Vertex Project Management delivered a multi-million-dollar renovation and rebranding of the Ibis Styles Cairns – which was transformed into the Mercure Hotel Cairns.
The project involved the major upgrade of 75 guestrooms, hotel lobby, restaurant, pool deck and outdoor dining and lounge area. We were engaged by Mandala Hospitality Group to coordinate the transformation of the hotel, which needed to be in line with Mercure and Accor brand standards.
Our role involved management of the project from inception to completion and included engaging and managing the designer, Scott Carver, and builder, Effective Designs & Construction. We worked closely with the hotel owners, operators, and the whole project delivery team to ensure the project was a success and achieved our client’s desired outcome.
Much of the work was done during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic presenting a new set of challenges including in relation to issues with overseas procurement. Cairns, being in a regional area, also presented labour and staffing issues that the team overcame.
Our team’s ability to problem-solve and come up with solutions to challenges helped to deliver this project successfully with a superb result.
